Passionflower, or "passion flower", is renowned for the substances it contains, such as flavonoids (luteolin, apigenin, orientol, vitexol, saponarol). Passionflower is traditionally used for its calming properties and to promote sleep . Its large, purple and white flowers are formed by five white petals topped with a crown of filaments. To flourish, this plant requires exposure to the sun. The aerial parts are harvested at the time of flowering or at the beginning of fruit formation. |
